  • Build strength and flexibility to support joints and prevent injury
  • Improve balance and mobility for confident movement
  • Boost energy and vitality with age-appropriate workouts
  • Support heart health, bone density, and mental wellbeing
  • Enjoy everyday activities like gardening, playing with grandchildren, or traveling

Fitness After 50: It’s Never Too Late to Start

Whether you’re new to exercise or returning after a break, our 50 Plus Fitness approach meets you where you are. From resistance training and mobility exercises to posture correction and core stability, we focus on functional fitness that enhances your daily life.

Imagine skiing, windsurfing, or simply bending and lifting with ease — even after retirement. With our holistic programme, you’ll feel stronger, move better, and enjoy life more.

Diets Don’t Work — Movement Does

Forget restrictive diets. Our philosophy is simple: sustainable fitness, smart nutrition, and consistent movement tailored for the 50+ body. We help you build habits that last, so you can live fully and age actively.

I am strong, fit and healthy. Furthermore, my size 10 leather trousers fit perfectly, and I’m in my 60s! My bone density was borderline but after 6 months of training my GP has noted a big improvement; it’s now excellent. The personal training sessions are always fun and varied. They happen at home too which is very convenient.

A Gentle but Challenging Approach

We learn about your fitness levels in our consultation and initially establish a simple but solid foundation of strength, fitness and flexibility. We then progress onto new challenges and more complex movement patterns at a pace that’s challenging but achievable using your body weight but also a clever modern kit. A big part of the process is belief – the belief that it’s never too late to improve or make a profound change to the quality of your life through strength and fitness.

Emphasis on Strength & Flexibility

Studies clearly show functional strength training improves coordination, strength, and flexibility. This dramatically increases bone density, preventing osteoporosis and improving joint stability and strength. Varied cardio-vascular exercise keeps the heart and lungs healthy while preventing disease. Advanced stretching and flexibility work keeps you loose, pain and injury-free. Gentle agility work keeps you light and nimble. Core stability and lower back routines keep your back working properly.

Balanced Nutritional Approach

Our nutritional coaching is always realistic with no fads or gimmicks. We encourage our 50 Plus fitness students to follow the wholefood diet principles for most of the time but we totally encourage treats and indulgencies, just in a planned and clever way. Examples might be swapping wine or beer for prosecco or slimline spirit mixers, eating lower-calorie chocolates like smarties or malteasers, and planning ahead when going out are just some of the techniques we teach. As we age good nutrition is paramount, but you can still have fun too!

The greater your age, the more pronounced the benefits

The older you get the more pronounced the benefits of good nutrition and functional fitness become. Our oldest client is 84. Before embarking on personal training with us she was largely dependent on social workers and family for everyday tasks. With gentle but challenging (and fun) 50 plus fitness sessions she is now fully independent, able to carry heavy shopping, get around town, attend dance classes and play with her grandchildren.

If you would like to know more about what to expect in the sessions, what type of equipment we will be using, or have any other questions, have a look at our FAQ on the home page. You can of course also call or email us and we’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Book a first consultation - free

What Now?  The first step is to book a consultation. It’s free, and it’s a chance to meet your prospective trainer. In the consultation, we will go through a health screening, lifestyle assessment, goal setting and look at where you are now and how you got there. Together we can then set out where you would like to be and how soon you would like to get there.
